WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — The woman found running topless around a Florida neighborhood after allegedly strangling a woman in her home told investigators she saw demons in the sky and people were trying to kill her.

According to the arrest report, Williams confessed to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies that she used a cellphone charging cord to strangle the unidentified victim. It said Williams told investigators she thought the victim was trying to sacrifice her for financial gain. Williams said she had vivid dreams about it. Then, after killing the woman, Williams told deputies she ran away to avoid being captured. Williams said she surrendered when she realized she couldn't escape. Deputies found Williams wearing only green underwear, hiding in a drainage canal, about a third of a mile from the crime scene. The first call to 911 came at 9:12 a.m. Sunday. A neighbor reported a suspicious incident involving a naked woman climbing a tree
But according to the arrest report, the strange behavior began days before. On Friday, deputies said a neighbor who owned the home Williams rented called him at 3 a.m. and asked him to come to her unit. Williams told the neighbor she was "seeing things" and that she was having a panic attack. Moments later, the neighbor found her standing upright and trembling, saying, "They're trying to kill me. I don't know why those people are trying to kill me." The neighbor told her everything was OK and he went back home. Williams, according to investigators, rented a one-room efficiency just behind the owner's property on a month-to-month basis for the past two months. She lived there with her 8-year-old son. The neighbor described Williams to investigators as a "nice person." The next day, Saturday, the sheriff's office said an acquaintance of Williams called the neighbor and asked him to check on her because she was acting strange the night before. But Williams refused to answer the door. Sunday morning, investigators said Williams' father called the neighbor to check on her again. At the same time, the neighbor's wife said she saw Williams topless and rolling around in the dirt in the backyard. According to the arrest report, the neighbor and his wife tried to get Williams to put her clothes back on. Instead, she jumped the fence and ran off. That's when the neighbor called 911 to report the disturbance. The suspect's father called back, asking the neighbor to check the house. The neighbor pushed open the efficiency's partially-cracked door and saw an adult woman on the floor with a black cord around her neck. Home security cameras and other evidence helped put together a timeline. The sheriff's office said the last known voicemail from the victim came at 8:15 a.m., about 45 minutes before the suspect's father asked the neighbor to check the home. At 8:54 a.m., Williams stepped out of the efficiency, wearing a yellow dress. She walked around the backyard until 8:58 a.m. when her son went outside, looking for her. At 9 a.m., investigators said Williams moved the security camera to show the backyard. Then, she was topless, wearing only the green underwear. One minute later, the neighbor and his wife came to the backyard to speak with Williams. She appeared agitated, the sheriff's office said. At 9:10 a.m., the security video showed Williams walking to the back corner of the backyard, where the neighbor said she jumped the fence. Minutes later, deputies pulled her from the canal. She was medically cleared and taken for questioning in the late afternoon. At 9:32 p.m., investigators booked her into the Palm Beach County Jail.
SOUTHWEST OF NOVINGER, Mo. — FURTHER UPDATE: A frantic search for a missing toddler in Adair County went on for hours on Thursday. The one-and-a-half-year-old girl was found safe and sound around 3 p.m. southwest of Novinger. The little girl disappeared sometime Thursday morning from the family's home when her mother fell asleep on the couch for three hours. The toddler was barefoot and wearing only a diaper when she wandered off. It's unknown when during that three-hour period that she walked away. Multiple agencies helped search for the girl on foot, using UTVs and from the air using a drone and a helicopter. An estimated 65-70 people were assisting. A police K-9 was also brought in. The Kirksville Fire Department dragged two ponds near the girl's home. Adair County Sheriff Eldon Grissom told KTVO that the little girl was found by a man who was helping with the search. He lives in the area. They said the man saw the little girl climbing under a fence down a driveway just up the road from where she disappeared. The location is just two-tenths of a mile north of her home. Investigators said the girl appeared to be fine, but she was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center to be checked out as a precaution. Grissom asked KTVO to pass along his thanks to the dozens of residents who volunteered to help in the search, should they have been needed.
