they googled, Kevin called vet, he ran him home, we gave him hydrogen peroxide, he puked and shit and puked and shit, and we'll give him Prilosec for the next 14 days. he seems no worse for the wear. did he learn anything? he'll eat anything. Kevin was quite concerned 'bout his lil' buddy. so we didn't go out for his birthday, we stayed home and Rusty slept on Kevin's lap. and we discussed wall treatments...think we're going with full wall beautiful log cabin look in dining room. the brick paneling I want for accent wall behind desk after coming to this very difficult decision is not available at Chillicothe. there is some at Liberty. (sigh.)
I'm just your average grandma who believes in Bigfoot and ghosts and is fascinated by serial killers....

Rusty and Kevin were at 'the other farm' and Rusty ate some rat bait.
yesterday was Coralie's birthday party. so much fun.
Another perfect birthday party๐๐๐๐ in the books! These lucky little Wills have the best mama❤. the kids still love Snapchat and Ian. is. The. Cake. Boss.
Sightings: Bigfoot 3; Large Pink Bunny 1 Sorry, residents of Hamilton. It was me. I bought the last cold Pepsi at Casey's. It was quite refreshing.
today I learned that YUCK Zerelda doesn't like pickles
Zerelda is a Police officer and I got some tickets driving today...๐๐ฎ♀️๐จ

last night Zerelda ate a cupcake to reveal her new siblings gender on live chat with us....
it's a girl! Isabella Louise (I'm pretty sure. or close to Isabella Louise.)
last night I dug out what I had of Coralie's bday gift (still waiting on several baby doll outfits to arrive....which they probably will tomorrow, then I'll just mail them, I guess....)so I could wrap for party today.
so precariously restacked stacked shit that is in 'temp storage' during remodel. this morning went to garage and there was stuff all over the floor that I had stacked TOO precariously. 2 of Kevin's shot glasses met their maker today. swept up the glass, threw away the stack of gift bags, past party decs, etc, I'd never cleared off chair, and stacked less precariously this time.
a flurry of group messages. Lisa goes home today. TROUT SEASON. which is a big deal when you work for Missouri State Parks I guess. John has someone out sick and someone assaulted and in hospital, so can't come over. I will start duty tomorrow, it seems. We'll see if Mom does ok tonight. I know she's chomping at the bit for some privacy. hopefully she remembers she's still not 100% for a bit longer. tomorrow she has a lunch date with a friend, so will check in for that. do cat boxes, etc.

today Brian and Kevin got the sink and toilet back in upstairs bathroom!
put my bookshelf in grandkids room.
was going to bring in the shelf from garage for our room, but it was too rickety & too big. it went in the dump trailer. Kevin suggested we go buy a new shelf, so he did the measurements, found my shelf, and built it and drug it into our room. still working on setting it up, but here's the gist.
Kevin wants to replace LR floor. he loves the bathroom floor. and we're discussing what we're doing when the paneling comes down. so many decisions. so much $$$$$$$$$

here's the group picture from 1999 AAA reunion in Indiana
I'm not in it. many years ago I said I'd buy a tent and go to the reunion in Indiana at a campground and just be out gas money, camp site fee, and food. never did. then I said I'd go to the Branson reunion. I was on surgery leave. I was also broke. as a once upon a time geneaologist, this was oh so important to me. scouring local newspapers to keep up with the latest generation of descendants from all branches of the family. now I just don't give a shit anymore. whatevs. like obituaries. I used to love the flowery lengthy obits. now I'm like don't waste my time. you were born. you died. I lose interest after that. hopefully you had good things and fun times and love and laughter. let's all just assume you did.
Axsom Association Newsletter May-July 1999 cont.
The driver took us a bit furthur down the gravel road towards the Monroe Reservoir to an intersection with another gravel road-whose name was especially meaningful to us-AXSOM BRANCH ROAD. Taking this road south would have led us to the Monroe Reservoir which today covers the bed of what was Salt Creek in earlier times. To the south of Salt Creek was the homestead of William David Axsom that was near the Axsom Branch which flowed basically north into Salt Creek. Today the waters of the reservoir cover most of William David Axsom's land along Salt Creek.
After some picture taking at Axsom Branch Road, the motor coach carried us north to Belmont and then west on Route 42 to far eastern edge of Bloomington-where we ate lunch in a private dining room at Ryan's Steakhouse.
After a relaxing lunchtime, the motor coach headed south on route 446 for several miles to Blackwell Church road. Taking that gravel road east through state recreation land, we came at length to the Todd Cemetery.
This cemetery is surrounded by tall trees and is several miles from any community. The driver expertly backed the coach down a narrow tree lined lane that let us out at the entrance to the burial site. Just inside the gate are the graves of Raymond Axsom and his son Ray Axsom. Raymond was the son of Martin Axsom who was the youngest son of Samuel David and Melvina. At the far end of the cemetery is the grave of Samuel David Axsom who died in 1892 after coming to Indiana in the 1830s from Surry County, NC. His stone marker is about 3' tall and is one of the better preserved old headstones in the cemetery. Somewhat closer to the entrance gate is the stone marker for Samuel's first wife, Winifred.
Again we were quite happy to return to the cool interior of the motor coach! This was indeed a hot, hot 4th of July in Indiana.
On the northward trip up route 446 toward Bloomington, we stopped at the Burgoon Church Cemetery where we saw the graves of Isis Axsom, oldest daughter of William David. Also there were two or three other Axsom graves.
We were mostly rested when we arrived back at the Raddison Hotel a little after 4 p.m. There were no planned reunion activities that evening. However many of the Axsom descendants watched the fireworks display from the 4th floor pool deck of the Raddison. The pyrotechinics were launched from teh top of a nearby bank building.
MONDAY (deb. Larry is a very florid and descriptive writer, like a few other Axsom descendants I know. In the interest of carpal tunnel, I am going to start editing a bit.) The reunion activities commenced 9 a.m. with business meeting Panorama Room. Main business items #1 election of officers #2 selction of date and time of next reunion #3 recommendations and actions concerning the Axsom family cemetery in Surry County.
After much discussion from most attendees next reunion 2001 mid June Branson MO. requested that reunion headquarters have a hospitality room, and also time set aside for family group pictures. Some form of game be used at sessions to encourage everyone to get to know each other. lots of discussion on Axsom and Setliff burial sites in Surry Co, NC. Norma Zanetti had in past 2 years done considerable research and held conversations with owner of property where graves located. #1. the AAA should annually provide funds for maintenance of Axsom burial site. consensus of minimum maintenaince to keep site clear of brush and undergrowth. Alton and Betty Axsom of Greensboror cleared out the brush & undergrowth prior to 1997 Nat'l Reunion. Alton is moving to the coast and will not be close to burial site. and besides they shouldn't have to maintain it. Norma getting an estimate.
AAA should determine dimensions of burial area and estimate for fence or maker for burial site. situated on a knoll in a copse of trees in the middle of a farmers field. crops planted on all sides of cemetery. field accessed via tractor road leading from abandoned farmhouse to fields. road approximately .75 miles long. the person who farms this land doesn't own it. leased from owner whom Norma has talked to. Joe Zanetti offered to conduct an informal survey of burial site and obtain estimates.
AAA should establish a separate fund for building fence.
all present were surprised at absence of Presidential candidate Ron Axsom. proposed candidates elected unanimously. Louise had taken Ron to the hospital in the wee hours of the morning. Kidney stone. requested that election be held earlier in future reunions.
before close of meeting Ruth Hillenburg asked for help to identify Uncle Doc. She related that during her childhood 1920s-1930s in Indiana there came a visitor to her parents house from time to time. He traveled lightly. possibly with all his possessions. 3rd National Axsom Reunion adjourned just before noon July 5 1999

Loyal Axsom by Samuel Axsom's gravestone 7-4-1999
Report submitted by Norma Zanetti on research: preservation of Axom cemetery. she volunteered for this work at 1997 Nat'l Axsom reunion.
Steps taken. #1. registered Axsom Family Cemetery with the NC State Cemetery Archives Cemetery Survey Project AND The Surry count Commissioners AND the USGenWeb Project. #2. Met with Surry Co. Clerk of Superiour court to discuss possibility of setting up a trust fund through the court for cemetery maintenaince: not recommended. #3. Joined online and offline discussions concerning preservation measures: pros and cons of clearing, fencing, etc. #4. Contacted cemetery site owner Carl Allen to discuss maintenance/improvements.
Recommendations: Discuss preservation at AAA business meeting. Take responsilibity for routine maintenance-possibility owner may include maintenance of cemetery in forthcoming lease agreement. If such an agreemend does not materialize, AAA should contact a local resident to perform routine maintenance and make arrangements for payment. Discuss pros/cons of fencing-the need, advantages, disadvantages. expense long and short term, legalities. If AAA votes to fence, start cemetery fund.
Summary: 2 trains of thought regarding measures that should be taken to preserve old cemeteries. #1. some believe leave them alone, the less people who know about them the better. (I am an ashes to ashes, dust to dust gal. take a good survey, complete with extensive photos, post online. let nature take her course. there is something beautiful about a wild, overgrown cemetery.) less risk of vandalism in hidden cemetery. #2. old cemeteries should be cleared, maintained, fenced, reflecting care and vigilance. fence provides protection and a sense of permanence. cemeteries are a link to the past and should be preserved for future generations. (when a cemetery is on private land: there is an old county poor farm cemetery on the farm my husband owns. cows were run on this land. cemetery was not fenced. it was said there were many years ago just piles of stones used as markers. these are now gone. approximate location of cemetery is known. that is all. ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
message from outgoing president Larry Axsom: privately owned property. current owner dedicated to preservation. cooperative and supportive of efforts of family members to clean the site. owner makes point that there are some country cemeteries that are plowed over and used for crop land. or livestock roamed through cemetery. cemetery relatively safe for now. no guarantee for future ownership. there are vague old laws that protect cemeteries, often ignored. Owner should be made aware of any regular maintenance schedule or plans. his permission will be needed. may be need for legal assistance.
in previous newsletter, I published new address and phone #. I am retiring from my job end of September. Decided to retire as early as possible to travel. sold our home, most possessions in long term storage, bought a heavy duty truck to haul a RV. October 1 we will travel full time around the country. (we were one of his stops.)
we have a cellular phone and notebook computer....the first published work that I ever read on Axsom Genealogy was from Louise Axsom's book INDIANA COUSINS published more than a decade ago. All Axsom Archives are carefully packed in air conditioned storage-23 2" numbered binders of Axsom research and correspondence. I hope to publish another more comprehensive book on Axsom heritage in 4-5 years. During our travels round the country we plan to see as many Axsom descendants as possible. Don't be surprised to get a call from us asking to visit for an hour or so to get acquainted. we are specially interested in old family pictures and documentss, birth & dEath certificates, letters, military records, proclamations, etc.

Now this couple is asleep in their hotel room and someone is creeping around in their room...heebie jebbies. Robbed them. Dunked a toothbrush in the toilet. And someone kills the husband and 2 girls are making out. Some long blinks later... I. guess all these people are making videos and someone is watching these videos and has to steal one? A lot of murders and stuff. A guy taking out organs of his long distance girlfriends. The old dead guys not in the chair anymore????? I don't understand.

Johnny Frank Garretts Last Words
Johnny Frank Garrett's Last Word....young murderer executed, leaves curse letter promising vengeance for all connected to his unfair trial. -poor jurors. Like they WANT to be there-I've been on jury duty twice- no fancy box to sit in. Definitely no holding hands and chanting The Lord's Prayer before The Vote. Course I don't live in Texas. Well, well, Adam. You're the reason we have to put a card on file for incidentals at fine hotels and motels everywhere. It ain't God you gotta worry about. When you piss him off, he don't come after your whole damn family. Johnny Frank Garrett will.
