always looking for bigfoot....this time he was strolling through Unionville, Mo...

yesterday Kevin took an early out and met me at the farm.

he drug around some furniture, but I've about piled the garage full (did some throwing away of things out there. only totally useless things like empty sacks and jugs and trash, no tooly looking anythings. promise.) and it was raining, so none of it has left house. yet. he went through all stuff in storage area. lugged more stuff home. took down pictures and set up his 'new' cabinet. went on a Polaris ride after supper. we do enjoy relaxing moments such as this more I think, since we've been so busy cleaning out the house and trying to survive the bitingest puppy there ever was.
today is my 'day off' from the farm since I work tonight, but lugged around shit here at home, drug everything out of the car I could lift. what was once Katie's room is now the put-it-there-till-I-figure-out-where-it-goes room. I have plans here. if they don't want all the chairs out there, we'll replace some of our rickety ones. going to drag out old bed in grandkids room and replace with Shroyer bed. and put the mirror in there for pretty pretty princess Zerelda. that'll free up more room in garage. stuff, stuff, stuff. may buy another set of storage shelves for basement to put all this shit we're lugging home on. I hate to pile more shit in our house (I say our house but it's Kevin's house. and Kevin's family heirlooms. and he is a Dailey. he just can't help it.) for our kids to deal with someday. I really do. cause generations ago, there was meaning. but as time goes on, it's rusty stuff. somewhat cool stuff, but just other peoples stuff. where do you draw the line?

Look who came to Grammys house! Rusty packed his bags and came to spend the night with US! Thank you mom and dad for letting him stay❤️

6.29.2021

Zerelda is in the E.R. so my strong lifting buddy isn't coming today as planned.

poor kid, she's a puker like her daddy. her testing yesterday indicated she's about 2 years behind mentally. I'm not concerned. she has an I'm-not-taking-any-shit-from-you personality, so will just clam up when she's done. an admirable trait under the right circumstances. one I really wish I had. so, on this rainy morning Rusty went to the penalty box for chewing the sweeper cord, and I cleaned our floors. (sigh). such a simple task, but makes the world all right again. Martha has boxes for me at the store, which I will go get after a bit, and do some more sorting and piling. maybe not packing to garage in rain. also need to call GRM to see if they can reset wifi password at farm for us. only Lije knew it, and I don't know how Kevin feels about a seance to get it back.

what I'm reading 📚...

I've always been mildly fascinated by suicide. did a term paper on it in high school, and Jonestown was part of my research...in the library. in an encyclopedia. this book wasn't quite what I thought. this woman had an insiders view. and she survived. she has a lot of opinions and ideas and judgements. I dunno. we're all entitled to our own life view. and I read hers.

what I'm reading 📚...

I admire this man for trying to piece together how his son died. to find the truth. 'cause I'm pretty sure if my kid died, I wouldn't want to know the truth. I don't think it would help me.

not been a good week for Daileys and trees...

I got more stuff lugged out of house...

6.27.2021

Rusty keeps track of his human....

my day off so worked out at the house. sorting clothes and books and dishes for this garage sale that will someday occur. after Kevin got home from work we mowed at Grandma's.

what I'm reading.....The Phantom Prince

yesterday while I was at work Kevin finished cleaning up the storm mess at farm.

today while I was at work, he loaded up the rake from auction, (last one, all done!) and took Rusty to the vet and left him at Grammy Dina's for his first overnight away from home. we went to the movies. ate supper. HyVee.

6.23.2021

Kevin had an early out, so made it to the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump.

AND to the bank to deposit the auction check. then the boys went adventuring on the side by side.
our concert date got changed. and Becky changed the schedule from yesterday. so now I work. and Kevin says he is not unhappy, he is fucking furious. will figure it out. not till September.

Mother Nature decided some tree trimming was in order...🌩⚡⛈

I worked in garage putting stuff in new cabinet. and started on my spooky corner in basement. Kevin got the bed out of 'guest room' and put bed from 'master' into 'guest room'. and drug more stuff out of house. and of course drug limbs. he saved some of that fun for tomorrow. the windbreak has taken a real beating this year.

these are the 3 windows to Kevin's old room at the farmhouse.

he grew up there. I lived there with him twice. I looked out these windows plenty. thinking whatever deep thoughts I would've had as a newlywed, and later, as a first time pregnant mom and a new mom. it is a pretty old house. but it is falling down and pretty much held up by the giant honeycombs the bees have made over the years. it will someday be gone....whenever our spot on the bulldozer guys list comes up.

Camp Cold Brook

my kind of ghost story. twists and turns and a real haunting....and one of our investigators was involved in the original event that caused the haunting (he doesn't remember till the end.) he survives again, but she's got hold of his daughters. she. has. his. daughters.

Apt. 143

my kinda movie. I just knew it was the teenage girl. but the story kept getting more and more and more and more and more twisted.....that damn apartment was trashed. with a capital T.
A team of parapsychologists sets out to investigate a series of anomalous phenomena taking place in a newly occupied apartment. Directors Carles Torrens Starring Kai Lennox, Michael O'Keefe Genres Suspense, Horror

I went out and boxed up books and the personal stuff in Lije's room.

that way Kevin can sort through it when he's ready. I can see now why Lije never got around to cleaning Marie's house out. It's a lot. a lot. need to find a date for a garage sale. Kevin agreed. he doesn't want to deal with an auction. we just need to pass some wonderful things we don't personally want onto someone else who will thank Sasquatch that this item fell into their lives.
gave Kevin my Fathers Day Gift and a special something I found in his dad's closet. and took him out to supper.

6.19.2021

work day at the farm. Kevin, KJ, Ann, Zerelda, and I

packed dishes. took down pictures. moved garage sale stuff to garage. figured out dishwasher leaks. stereos don't work. brought home a trailer load of furniture we're keeping. took a lunch break at Crazy Horse Cafe. then back at it. came home and unloaded. Kevin started his day off mowing the yard waiting for the guy who bought the rake to pick it up. one more rake to go and the sale is 'officially over' as in all money collected and all merchandise gone. still a lot to do, but a lot done.

nothing like retracing your steps in public to find something that wasn't lost to begin with...a day in the life...

mowed at Marie's withe a break to let in Lowe's guys to deliver new fridge and take away old one. finished yard. lunch at Crazy Horse. loaded up the dump trailer wtih stuff from our garage and basement, then loaded up Rusty to ride along and went out to the farm to pick up what we'd tossed there. tarped it down. had tarp troubles on the way. at Spickard we realized we weren't going to make it to the dump before it closed, so turned around and came home. took kids out to farm to see their 'new house.' Zerelda played Princess and the Pea on the bed piled high with quilts. we wore glasses and watches and played night night and hid in the closet in the dark. we washed our hands for approximately 3 days. then we came back here and fed apples and eggs (blue berry things off pine tree) through the gate to her sheep. (imaginary sheep.) I wanted them to be buffalo, or unicorns, or alligators, but she insisted they were sheep. she wasn't a fan of the new swing I was so proud of, but did sit on it with me for a minute. Ann & KJ brought stuff to grill, that was supper. Zerelda was a princess for a while. we gave Rusty a bath. she took Rusty for some walks about the yard and out for his nightly potty before bed. he did try to eat her princess dress. she wanted to sleep with Grandma and Grandpa. she got to put her seat in our car and ride to farm with us. but she wanted to ride back in the front seat with no booster seat. there were some tears. we were all pretty tired. and hot. and sweaty. all in all, a good day.

6.16.2021

picked up safe. no mishaps unloading. (I just stayed out of the way. things usually go better that way.)

online auction ended successfully and 3 buyers picked up items tonight, which was a bit frantic, but Kevin did it. he. the. man. another buyer is local and will just go hook up to his tedder and take it home. that will leave the 2 rakes. Kevin did a good job. he made enough to pay for the car. he is a wheeler and a dealer. pretty proud of myself, threw together a Mom Supper (as in my mom, who could come in from a day of milking twice, bottle feeding a million calves, working in the garden, hanging loads and loads of laundry on the line, building fence, and then cobble together something tasty from whatever caught her eye when she opened the fridge.) she really could do some Kitchen Magic. I didn't inherit that from her. but every once in a while....I. am. on. it. microwaved tiny potatoes and chopped up with leftover summer sausage and onions from last weekends picnic. frying in butter then the apple cobbler Kevin bought at HyVee for desert. (assuming its still good.) we're getting bad about buying groceries and never being home to eat them. we would've ate on the road tonight if the auction guy hadn't called to tell us buyers were on their way.

doesn't look like I got a lot done today at the farm waiting on the Lowe's 🚚 that broke down and never arrived, but I am proud. All clothes out of closets. Made room in storage room for stuff. Started cleaning out kitchen cabinets and Kevin's cabinet. Heaps of what I deemed trash out the door. You learn a lot about a person by cleaning out their house. Need to keep in mind what the kids will find when I'm gone...⚰

bought new fridge for farm. being delivered tomorrow.

I. will. be. out. there. first. thing. in. the. morning. boxing. and. bagging. stuff.
kevin reminded me he'd bought new bug spray (pretty sure we bought new bug spray last year, but dutifully sprayed the new stuff.)
bought an 18 gun safe, picking up tomorrow. cleaned out a spot in basement for that. and will bring home the other blankety blank gun cabinet if it doesn't fall apart. so instead of getting rid of the one gun cabinet, I'm gaining another one AND a gun safe, since we didn't find one big enough they'd all fit in. and how would we have unloaded it anyway? I expect tomorrow to be a recreation of the deer stand with a sketchy moment or two, risk of injury, and some blood, sweat, and tears. we're getting somewhere, I think. Kevin is on the ropes with the online auction. he thought things would go higher but Jerry assures him lots of bidders wait till the end to strike. they're looking for a deal, too. it's a lot. it's a lot. but it is reassuring that I am too big to be shoved in the gun safe and left for dead....he'd have to chop me up first. and then I'd be dead anyway. maybe I should start watching some slightly more cheerful tv???

doing some research....ordered an organic lice kit with a head bonnet that you put stuff into instead of shampoo....still all the actual work...

Anyone who comes in close contact with someone who already has head lice, or even their contaminated clothing and other belongings, is at risk for acquiring head lice. So it is easy to transmit head lice from one person to another. Preschool and elementary-school children (3-11 years of age) and their families are infected most often. Girls contract head lice more often than boys, and women contract more head lice than men.
Nit: Nits are lice eggs. Nits are hard to see and are often confused with dandruff or hair-spray droplets. Nits are found firmly attached to the hair shaft. They are oval shaped, 2-3 mm in length and usually yellow to white in color. Nits take about a week to hatch.
Nymph: The nit hatches into a baby louse called a nymph. It looks like an adult head louse but is smaller. Nymphs mature into adults about seven days after hatching. To live, the nymph must feed on human blood.
Adult: The adult louse is about the size of a sesame seed, has six legs, and is tan to grayish-white in color. In people with dark hair, the adult louse looks darker. Females lay nits; they are usually larger than males. Adult lice can live up to 30 days on a person's head. To live, adult lice need to feed on human blood. If the louse falls off a person, it dies within two days.
Life cycle: The nits hatch into nymphs, which become full grown lice. In order to produce more nits, the adult lice must mate.
Where are head lice most commonly found? Head lice are most frequently located on the scalp behind the ears and near the neckline at the back of the neck. Head lice hold on to hair with hook-like claws that are found at the end of each of their six legs. Head lice are rarely found on the body, eyelashes, or eyebrows.
Head lice vs. dandruff Head lice are often confused with dandruff. Dandruff can easily be distinguished by combing the hair or even just rubbing. Dandruff should be easily removed, but the nits of head lice are firmly attached to the hair shaft.
Head lice can be detected by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs, or adults. Locating a nymph or adult may be difficult; there are usually only a few of them, and they can move quickly from searching fingers. However, the presence of nits close to the scalp confirms that a person is infested. If the nits are located more than ¼ inch from the scalp, the infestation is probably an old one. If you are not sure whether or not a person has head lice, the diagnosis should be made by a health care professional, school nurse, or a professional from the local health department or agricultural extension service. The nits of head lice are easily visible with a microscope. Dr. Ioffe-Uspensky performed a study that showed that using a louse comb was better than visual inspection alone when screening for lice infestations.
Does a black light help to diagnose lice infections? A black light is sometimes used to see if there are nits with live lice in them. Some reports indicate that nits with live lice will fluoresce.
For effective elimination of head lice, the infested individual, family members that are also infested, and the home must all be treated. It is important to remember that treatment should only be started if there are clearly live lice identified. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics in a recent clinical report, "The ideal treatment of lice should be safe, free of toxic chemicals, readily available without a prescription, easy to use, effective and inexpensive."
Remove all clothing. Apply lice-killing medicine, also called pediculicide, according to the label instructions. If a child has extra-long hair, one may need to use a second bottle. Warning: Do not use a cream rinse or combination shampoo/conditioner before using lice medicine. Do not rewash hair for one to two days after treatment. Have the infested person put on clean clothing after treatment. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment but are moving more slowly than before, do not retreat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb (lice comb). The medicine sometimes takes longer to kill the lice. If no dead lice are found and lice seem as active as before eight to 12 hours after treatment, the medicine may not be working. See a health care professional for a different medication and follow their treatment instructions. Nit (head lice egg) combs, often found in lice medicine packages, should be used to remove nits and lice from the hair shaft. Many flea combs made for cats and dogs are also effective. After the initial treatment, check, comb, and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Retreat in seven to 10 days. Check all treated people for two to three weeks until you are sure all lice and nits are gone.
Machine wash all washable clothing and bed linens that the infested person touched during the two days before treatment (to kill the lice and nits). Use the hot water cycle (130 F; 55 C) to wash clothes. Dry laundry using the hot cycle for at least 20 minutes. Dry clean clothing that is not washable (coats, hats, scarves, etc.), or store all clothing, stuffed animals, comforters, etc., that cannot be washed or dry cleaned into a plastic bag and seal it for two weeks. (By this time, any nits that have survived will have hatched and the nymphs would die without a feeding source.) Soak combs and brushes for one hour in rubbing alcohol, Lysol, or wash with soap and hot (130 F; 55 C) water and then place in bag and leave in freezer for two days. Vacuum the floor and furniture. Do not use fumigant sprays. (They can be toxic if inhaled.)
Head lice do not live on pets.
What OTC medications are available to treat head lice? Many head lice medicines are available at drugstores. Each OTC product usually contains one of the following active ingredients: Pyrethrins (often combined with piperonyl butoxide, in brand name products: A-200, Pronto, R&C, RID, Triple X): Pyrethrins are natural extracts from the chrysanthemum flower. Though safe and effective, pyrethrins are not ovicidal (egg-killing) and can only kill crawling lice, not unhatched nits. It is applied to dry hair and allowed to remain for 10 minutes but no longer. After 10 minutes, the hair should be brought to a lather with warm water and then rinsed clear. Finally, towel dry (no hair dryer). A second treatment is recommended in seven to 10 days to kill any newly hatched lice. Treatment failures are common due to, in part, the development of resistance. They should not be used in people allergic to chrysanthemum or ragweed. Pyrethrins are approved for use on individuals 2 years of age or older. Permethrins 1% (NIX): Permethrins are similar to natural pyrethrins. Permethrins were introduced in 1986 and are safe and effective and may continue to kill newly hatched eggs for several days after treatment. The person should first wash their hair using a shampoo without a conditioner and towel dry the hair until it is still damp but not soaking wet. Apply the NIX to the damp hair and scalp. Make sure to get behind the ears and neck. Leave NIX in hair for 10 minutes but no longer. Rinse hair completely and towel dry. A second treatment may be needed in seven to 10 days to kill any newly hatched lice. Treatment failures are common, but NIX can be used on children as young as 2 months of age. Dimethicones (LiceMD, silicone oils, Hedrin, NYDA): Dimethicones are a type of silicone oil. These products are believed to work by coating surfaces and acting as a physical barrier that asphyxiates the louse. Unfortunately, there has been very limited research on their effectiveness. Nevertheless, some limited studies have shown moderately good rates of killing the lice. These dimethicones are biologically inert and are considered non-toxic in humans. In the United Kingdom, they are used almost exclusively, and they are considered highly effective by many physicians. Other agents: There are a number of other agents that have been used to treat lice. Some agents mix coconut oil and tea tree oil with permethrins or pyrethrins. It is not clear if these agents work alone or only in combination with other pediculocides. Other home remedies include using olive oil, mayonnaise, and even vinegar. However, there are no studies proving their efficacy.
What prescription drugs treat head lice? Malathion .5% (Ovide): Malathion is an organophosphate insecticide that is only available as a prescription and it kills live lice (pediculicidal) and the lice inside the eggs/nits (ovicidal). It has actually been pulled off the market twice due to safety concerns, but it was reintroduced in the United States (USA) in 1999 due to increasing resistance of head lice to other treatments. The formulation in the United States contains terpineol dipentene, isopropyl alcohol, and pine needle oil, both of which have pediculicidal properties. The product is used differently than other compounds. The product is extremely flammable and should never be around heat, hair dryers, or curling irons. The product is applied to dry hair until the scalp and hair are thoroughly coated. Make sure that the area behind the ears and the back of the neck are covered. Let the hair dry naturally (no hair dryers). The product is left in place for eight to 12 hours. After eight to 12 hours, wash and rinse the hair with shampoo. Use a nit comb (fine-toothed comb) to remove any nits. If live lice are noted after seven days, retreat. It is currently recommended only for individuals 6 years of age up to 60 years of age.
Benzyl alcohol
5% (Ulesfia): Benzyl alcohol is available in the U.S. as a 5% lotion. The product is applied to dry hair until the scalp and hair are thoroughly coated. Make sure that the area behind the ears and the back of the neck are covered. Leave it in the hair for only 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly in a sink. Do not use a shower to avoid getting the solution over the rest of the body. You can immediately wash your hair with regular shampoo. It is not ovicidal and needs to be repeated in one week if there is any evidence of live lice. Spinosad (Natroba): Spinosad is a derived from soil bacteria. It is both pediculicidal (kills the live lice) and ovicidal (kills the lice inside the eggs/nits). It is moderately more effective than the over-the-counter treatments but is available only by prescription and is very expensive. If live lice are noted after seven days, retreat. It is approved in children 6 months of age and older and contains benzyl alcohol, as well. Ivermectin (Sklice): Ivermectin is available as both a 0.5% lotion (which is FDA approved for the treatment of lice) and as an oral medication (which is not approved in the U.S. for treatment of lice). It has been used to treat helminthic infestations (worms) for many years. Generally, only one treatment is needed. It is pediculocidal (kills live lice). Although it is not ovicidal (kills the lice inside the eggs/nits), it appears to prevent nymphs (newly hatched lice) from surviving. Topical ivermectin lotion may be used in the treatment of lice in children 6 months of age and older. While oral invermectin is commonly used in other countries for lice, it is currently not approved for the treatment of head lice in the U.S. In countries where it is approved, the dosage is usually a single dose, which is often repeated in nine days. Lindane (Kwell): It is important to note that lindane 1% (Kwell) is no longer recommended as a treatment option for head lice due to its toxicity in children. It can still be prescribed, but most experts recommend against its usage. Other treatments such as permethrin 5%, crotamiton 10%, and sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (Bactrim) are not currently approved by the FDA for the use in the treatment of head lice.
do not use extra amounts of the lice medication, do not treat the infested person more than two times with the same medication (if it does not seem to work, see a health care professional), do not mix different head lice medications. Occlusion therapy, nit combing, and hair removal have not been proven to be fully effective in completely eradicating head lice. Home remedies that have been tried include vinegar, mayonnaise, petroleum jelly, olive oil, butter, rubbing alcohol, and prolonged water submersion. These all fail to eliminate infestation, because these therapies do not kill all of the eggs or lice. This is believed due to the specialized way the parasite "breathes." Hair removal has never been proven to be effective, but since the louse requires a hair shaft to lay its eggs, it should prevent the lice from multiplying. This is not always considered a desirable option for many children. There is also a device that uses hot air to kill the lice. The device, OneCure, is an FDA-cleared home device. Currently, there are no published studies looking at the efficacy of this product.
. Vacuuming floors and furniture is sufficient to treat the house.
