memes to share.....scary mommy blogs to read....I am glad Koren is parenting in the days of Scary Mommy blogs....because they are truth. could've used some of that wisdom back in the day...but better late than never! we had movies to help us along the way.....National Lampoon Vacation (because the Griswolds keep it real!), Parenthood....because their kids weren't the only not perfect ones around....
I'm just your average grandma who believes in Bigfoot and ghosts and is fascinated by serial killers....

my bleary eyes and I are starting off another day on facebook.....

another facebook quiz....I'll be an AMBITIOUS old person. in the 20 days and 6 hours I have left. maybe it's time to just go to bed like the old person I am....
and hey, learned that I now have a 10% over 50 discount, because that apparently makes me a better driver? good thing my insurance agent doesn't watch me driving to and from work!
Bon Temps Creole Cafe
We'll be open New Years Eve and New Years Day serving up our traditional Hoppin' John! Start 2015 with a bowl of good luck and help the Bon Temps Creole Cafe celebrate our 20 year anniversary as THE finest Cajun-Create Restaurant on the central coast!
The favorite way to eat a Hoppin’ John meal is with collard greens and corn bread. Each item on the plate has symbolic meaning for the New Year. Black-eyed Peas represent “coins,” collard greens represent money or “green backs”, corn bread represents “gold,” and if tomatoes are added to Hoppin’ John it symbolizes "health".
The first written recipe for Hoppin John appeared in The Carolina Housewife in 1847. Most food historians generally agree that Hoppin John is an American dish with African/French/Caribbean roots. There are many tales or legends that explain how Hoppin' John got its name:
It was the custom for children to gather in the dining room as the dish was brought forth and hop around the table before sitting down to eat.
A man named John came "a-hoppin" when his wife took the dish from the stove.
An obscure South Carolina custom was inviting a guest to eat by saying, "Hop in, John"
The dish goes back at least as far as 1841, when, according to tradition, it was hawked in the streets of Charleston, South Carolina by a crippled black man who was know as Hoppin' John.
according to a facebook quiz on how much time I have left on this earth....
20 days and 6 hours
hopefully I'll get to South Carolina, Washington D.C., Georgia, and Maine....better get on the stick!
tonite's movie selections were Super 8 and Fatal Honeymoon.
I do know that if my husband wants to take me scuba diving in Australia, I should be suspicious....got banged up some at work and had some quality time with an ice pack. will see if I can walk tomorrow.....was in the mood for a hamburger, so went to store on way home and came home and C O O K E D! it surprised the kids!

this evening at home involved some tears....a fire in the basement....and a western.
not in any particular order....but all ended well. the fire ended up being therapeutic, I think....a journal of memories that perhaps needed to be purged.

The Amish are non-violent "people!" BUT IT PAYS TO KNOW GERMAN An Amish Farmer walking through his field notices a man Drinking from his pond with his hand. The Amish Farmer shouts: "Trinken Sie nicht das Wasser, Die Khe und die Schweine haben hineingeschissen!" Which means: "Don't drink the water, the cows and pigs have shit in it!" The man shouts back: "I'm a Muslim, I don't understand your gibberish. Speak English, Infidel!" The Amish Farmer shouts back in English: "Use two hands, you'll get more!"
had an Ian sighting last nite....
Kevin had already went to work. he is walking everywhere! clear across the living room, down the hall, thru the kitchen...just amazing! let him open the book I got him. he loved the bow!

The mother and daughter are like a stone and a piece of flint.
reading The Worlds Most Haunted House The True Story of the Bridgeport Poltergeist on Lindley Street, working on clearing off the table for family dinner tomorrow...hung the Frank & Mae Brown wedding license...glued the pieces back on the unknown family portrait...will try to hang it tonight. think I know where it will fit. never did get around to making an ugly xmas sweater...thought I would do it tonight, but not even sure where my oatmeal sweater is....and have to write xmas checks for Koren & Cody (found the gift boxes.) and measure the art from Katie so I can order frames.....
another day of sleeping in, then moving to the couch to sleep some more....feel better but still not right. but, truth be told, I don't feel all that whoopee most days anyway. one of the perks of aging, I guess. I think I have Chronic Exhaustion With A Dash Of Lazies Syndrome. It's a thing. I just made it up.
was cleaning floors when Koren arrived to pick up Katie to go to dinner at Ed & Norma's. Norma is one hell of a cook. can't compete with that. it is nice knowing they're in Mercer County and I will be seeing my one and only grandson!!!

after a couple of days of not feeling good, just lying around napping and moaning and feeling pueky...
got my happy ass out of bed, got thru work today, home to do chores, put out trash to curb, and do bills. had to do a couple online since they were past due...I like satellite and electricity, ya know. kind of necessities in my book. although I was too busy being under the weather to remember to get these bills in the mail. online is really easier anyways....although I went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overboard buying xmas stamps and am going to be using them till Independence Day or so....
hell, I felt bad enough that I didn't eat or get on facebook since my eyes hurt so bad. still drag ass tired and my eyes ache, but going to eat some microwaved baked potatoes drowned in butter and see whats on the telly. and fold those baskets of laundry the hubs so lovingly left there next to my tv viewing perch....
