The House on Poultney Road : based on a true ghost story

I hardly know where to start. How do you put such terror into words when the words I choose need to be real, not just a fabrication of a well educated imagination. I know that you may have your doubts and conclude with your own presumptions; and with no hard-evidence to offer, I am asking for you to explore and consider your deepest beliefs. I am unable to refer to this as a story, it goes much deeper than that of a progressive tale with happy ever afters.
What you are about to read is real; the feelings and emotions described have actually been lived. The fear felt. This is a narrative of the events which took place across almost a century, 1903 to 1983, in a house which stood closely among others and for many years shared the usual comforts of home. This house was once safe, it was a comfortable place to spend time but over time, it evolved into a dark emptiness which the house of Poultney Roads’ residents would never forget. It was hidden away from what it once was and over time had emerged as a building of strong, solid bricks which concealed more secrets than some members of my family wish to remember.
I am not writing this in an attempt to scare you but yet to inform you of what exists, whether you choose to believe it or not. This is not a fictional novel, created to shock and leave you in suspense but is instead a retelling of what happened to several generations of a family who had lived their lives as any other but who were, quite literally, introduced to another world.
I guess you could consider this a warning, that perhaps you should believe your instincts instead of living your life creating explanations and judgements. Seeing is believing some might say but learning about the house on Poultney Road could prepare you for something you may one day come face to face with and perhaps prevent you from the pain that that this house bought to so many.
Safe in your own home; sit back in a comfortable chair and turn on the side light. The beam will comfort you through this roller-coaster of memories which have left their mark on everyone who entered The House on Poultney Road.
one reviewer read the book in one sitting. I don't think my eyeballs are capable of that anymore. it was a good book. slightly different. very British. lots of whilst and the lounge and the pub. stilted conversation. did The Man In Black kill his childhood friend? or is he keeping him captive in the afterlife? and why does he want Ellen? why Richard? why the long periods of inactivity? even I was telling Richard to quit with the spirit communication, already. you're stirring shit up, man. and you. fucking. live. there. (I feel like I'm writing those book club questions at the end of the story. and I don't want to do a book club, same reason I don't like checking books out of the library. I don't like having a deadline to be done by. and I sure as hell don't want to read books I don't want to read and then discuss them with others. I am a solo reader. I read alone.)

I love Clint Eastwood, have as long as I can remember. I admire his work ethic. and as he gets older, I am comparing him to my dad. both wiry guys with a sense of humor and gray hair. both my heroes. I shed a few tears last night during the movie thinking about dad. would he have ever been a mule? if he had to do it to save the farm? or to help his family? or someone else he loved?

God Bless Judee, the tireless ever patient HR hero.

she has guided me through maternity leave and 5 surgery leaves. she has returned phone calls and talked me through my frantic worries about whatever. they are merging records. the paperwork for insurance I rec'd in the mail to verify for open enrollment says I have no beneficiary. I call Judee in a panic. (how is my husband going to afford a trophy wife who may or may not need a boob job without my life insurance #? after he pays off KJ's student loans, of course. I love this guy, and he deserves a wife who looks like a Playboy bunny). she reassures me that I do indeed have a beneficiary, but the records are merging and not all together yet. ok. ok. then I receive the confirmation letter about my coverage. STILL no beneficiary. I call the 800 # provided. it doesn't work. I leave Judee a frantic voicemail. she returns my call and assures me once again that all. is. well. she reminds me that the records are merging. they may not be done merging by insurance time next year. but, please, feel free to contact her with any questions or concerns. I thank her profusely. she is so kind. I am sure she is over me. I try not to freak out....but sometimes I just can't stop myself.

I've been seeing Bird Box all over Instagram and Facebook....

finally asked KJ what it was....and here I am, after watching this Netflix movie. it was right up my alley.
Bird Box (2018) R | 2h 4min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi | 21 December 2018 (USA) Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.
I slept till I woke up, then I snuck down to the basement to sew for hours on end, since Kayla and her kids spent the night and were still sleeping in LR. pretty pleased with my denim quilt progress thus far....I had cut out extra blocks for Koren's quilt years ago and had a good start going....will have to start cutting blocks again. using old t-shirt quilt stuff for backs. and designing quilt from center out. also got that last form dropped off to Harlene. Fallon's mom was just leaving and I showed up. Katie said 'poor moms'. I say 'poor Harlene.' the end is in sight....one more FAFSA, 2 more Kauffman applicatons....and so far, she hasn't borrowed penny one and held a steady 4.0 GPA. she's a good girl, she loves her mama, she loves horses, and America too. and now going to make hamburger and french fries for lunch. it is a cold mo-fo today. it's a cold one, Mr. Grinch. good hunkering down weather.

a fragmented poem

have been writing this off and on in my head since Peach 5.....
gossamer webs hang heavy with dust
antique lace draped over blue dotted with rust
(this is about the ropey intricate spider webs so artistically placed around my barns....and apparently, this is as inspired as I get. never can get past this part. but I am rather rather fond of it....)
need something about the buzz buzz of the flies and the scurry scurry of the mice and the gathering of the roaches...
here we go: a work in progress......
gossamer webs hang heavy with dust
antique lace draped over blue dotted with rust
the buzzing of flies, the scurry of mice
the roaches think it's paradise.

shout out to Princeton Casey's and Chey Covey for the chocolate frosted chocolate cake donut with crushed peppermint that changed my life!

Lan was late, had to hustle to get the pigs weaned and thought I was going to die. had to sit down in the sow crate with the sow. about had to lie down in there with her. power washer didn't show up. about got pushed out the end of the chute by a Wiles transfer who wasn't thrilled about coming to live with us. tried to deliver the Kauffman stuff, but she wasn't home. put it in mailbox and left her a voice mail. then to DG for a minute and home to jammy the f up. and I am home. Thank God. or Thank Bigfoot. whatever. just thanks.

it's the little things in life....

that cute lil' mouse that peeks at you from behind the rollers on the boar cart...the bubbles that float thru the air in the morning when you put synergize in the dip pan...the beautifully intricate spider webs on the crates....watching the rest of Almost Live Season Two....our friend Thomas made a juvenile Bigfoot cast. and we get to see what his game cam captures. deer, raccoon, turkeys....he even told us that Kentucky law says ginseng season starts September 1st and you have to plant the berries when you harvest the plant. and he gives us this bit of wisdom...and the more I think about it, the deeper it gets.... "If you don't get out and look you're not gonna find anything, that's for sure. "(this applies to real life as well...not just looking for Bigfoot. 🙄)
and here's another little thing....getting to see sweet scenes like this one. Apparently #christmasbreak has been hard on these two.... #zereldajames
and having Katie sleep over for the first time since....well, since she moved away to St Joe, I guess....
and memes that make me lol.....

You Can Go Camping Oregon Trail Style In These New Covered Wagons Who's ready for a camping trip?! Jennifer Nied JENNIFER NIED ·SEPTEMBER 7, 2018

Over the last few years, glamping (glamorous camping) has become the hot trend in summer travel. From teepees to decked-out tents, there’s a glamping experience likely to appeal to every type of traveler. The latest glamping experience we’ve learned about is equal parts pioneer and posh, and it’s based at Yosemite Pines RV Resort and Family Lodging. Conveniently located near the National Park, it draws inspiration from the Oregon Trail, offering two Conestoga wagon replicas as accommodations.
Modern Amenities The larger wagon contains a king-size bed and two sets of bunk beds for up to six people. The smaller wagon sleeps up to four people with one king-size bed and one bunk bed. There are adjacent restroom and shower facilities.
Both wagons also feature modern conveniences, including air conditioning and heat, plus a refrigerator and a microwave, so roughing it is relative. A few steps from the wheels, there’s a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. There is a family-friendly petting farm, but there are no oxen to worry about and, as far we know, cholera is not a concern, so guests can rest easy.
Yosemite Pines RV Resort and Family Lodging
The nightly rates for a Conestoga wagon sleepover start at $179 in the summer season. This month, Yosemite Pines is offering a buy one night, get one night free special when you call 209-962-7690 and use the code WAGONINTRO.
Western Wanderlust This isn’t the only way to play pioneer for a few nights. There are other glamping sites, like Capitol Reef Resort and Conestoga Ranch in Utah, with even more covered wagons available seasonally.
Similarly, you can explore the original Oregon Trail routes the prairie schooners took through Nebraska and Wyoming. At Rock Creek Station State Historical Park, you can still see the deep ruts carved by the wagons and watch living history demonstrations. As an alternative, the Oregon Trail Ruts State Historic Site & National Historic Landmark near Guernsey, Wyoming, boasts some of the deepest wagon ruts. Both sites are worth the trek before retiring to a modern hotel room.

Almost Live follows author, bigfoot researcher, survivalist and adventurer Thomas Marcum as he hunts for Bigfoot in the deeps woods of Kentucky. Thomas explores several Bigfoot hotspots during the season to uncover various Bigfoot evidence. Season 2 is bigger and better!

I love this guy. he is real. his voice does tend to lull me off to lullaby land, however.....we've had some sweet, sweet couch naps together.....thank God he came back in Season 2!

Yetis

The first of the More-on productions feature films. This schlock horror comedy follows a wolf expert and a group of five interns as they trek through the wilderness of Canada.
