Slagle Cemetery and Bridge in Chillicothe, MO It makes complete sense that a cemetery would still have the imprints of lost souls on its grounds, but the Slagle Cemetery and bridge in Chillicothe really takes the cake. The burial site was founded by Joseph Slagle, who locals claim was responsible for the first murder in Livingston County. According to the story, the victim’s body was buried beneath the road near the grounds, and the spirits of the restless Slagle family still wander among the headstones. Slagle is rumored to have killed a few of his many wives, but nothing was ever proven. The bridge itself is considered to be attached to a woman who hanged herself after the death of one of her children. Reports of activity also include mysterious whispers, injuries from being pushed off the bridge, sightings of orbs, and the figure of Mr. Slagle himself.

CHILLICOTHE????? ROAD TRIP!!!

(this just makes me think of my husband) ....and Happy Birthday, Kevin! 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈

o.m.g. a tag in a facebook post about abandoned dollhouses led me to Etsy and Twister Copper Forest....she made a dollhouse from a vintage suitcase! such talent! and it's already sold, of course....

so many possibilities here...you want torn up, worn out old doll furniture. distressed. cobwebby. abandoned. tiny cameos for wall hangings. teeny tiny dishes. o.m.g. and it looks like a Cold Charlette doll on the staircase! she also sells tiny distressed furniture so you can build your own doll house....this would be such a fascinating job! why oh why oh why am I a pig farmer???

the poem I wrote for new grandbaby...

we are so excited to find out who you will be
will you be a lil' miss or a lil' he
will you have hair of blonde and eyes so big and blue
will you sleep all night or will you just boo hoo
will you believe in Bigfoot or read Stephen King
will you love french fries or prefer onion rings
will you ride a bike so fast and climb a tree so high
when you swing will you always try to touch the sky
will you live in Memphis and play Papa the blues
will you be a tall drink of water always needing bigger shoes
will you be the country kind or prefer city lights
will you go fishing with Aunt Katie just waitin' for a bite
will you cook with Mama and help Daddy build
what will you learn from Ian and Coralie and Violet Wills
what will Mama and Daddy name you
what day will you arrive
cause Gramma just can't wait to meet you
Grandbaby #5. ♥

today our longest streak ever of avoid you know who ended when I forgot what day it was....

but YUM! easy supper. all's good. wrapped Coralie's present. named my entry and got it packaged to send tomorrow. laundry, laundry, laundry. going to catch up on the Sheriff's Report. kinda feel like I got my shit somewhat together at this moment in time....shouldn't have said it out loud. fuck. Kevin made a BIG payment to our mechanic. still owe him, but this lets him know we're trying our bestest. (and still have 3 vehicles out there right now...) gotta hang with Mr Josh for a few last night, he has been in town helping his mom through her cancer treatments. there could be some big changes (long over due in my humble opinion) on the family horizon. sometimes it's just enough and you need to cut your losses and move on down the road. it's not failure, it's common sense. knowing when to let go. this is something I'm not so good at....part stubbornness, mostly stupidity. and pride.

(you know it's true!) Happy Birthday! 🎈🎈🎈

Go home baby! Mardi Gras 2020 is over. See you next year!

finished Season 2 of Fortitude. wow.

gorgeous sky today...took some dramatic photos before/after chiropractor appt. found some interesting trees with personality and an awesome Billy Goats Gruff bridge...
and the train tracks that ran through my great grandparents farm...the tracks they ran the cows back and forth across to milk, that Dad & Donnie laid pennies on so the train could flatten them...and the lane that once led to the farm and is now just ruts in a yard. I think I remember getting off the bus and running down the lane to the house with a bull running the fence beside me bellowing...but my memories are all tied in to tvs shows and books and movies and dreams I've had and it all gets so confusing....

pretty sure I posted this last year, but someone just liked my comment....and I do have my vanities.

my comment: My Dearest Todd, I received your correspondence of June 4th and am relieved to hear that you are still alive. I knitted you suspenders, but soldiers camped nearby stole them, and the good silver, and our last shoat. I am ever so tired of rolling bandages and putting on a sunny face for the wounded coming home. Bertram, Thaddeus, and Alexander have returned. they have grievous wounds, but they are here and alive. I turned seventeen August last. My youth is quickly fading and I may not be able to wait for your return, God Willing. MaryBelle and Agnes have both married and are expecting. Life must go on. As Always, Your Dearest Karen
Brian started it: Dearest Karen, The indications are clear, we will be packing up our humble camp and exiting this Starbucks, within days. The constabulary here on Main is unimpressed with my lack of footwear and has asked us to leave. I fear that this new establishment will Not have adequate Wi-Fi, lest, our Correspondence may be infrequent. I also fear my suspender may give out at any moment. Times are bleak. Your love is all that gets me through the days. My dearest Karen, i do not know where my next Carmel Macchiato may come from, and my caffination levels may plummet, but know this, I will drink of your love as it gives me the strength to cross this road to the next Location. All 90 yards of Burning hot asphalt under my feet, is no comparison to how deep your love burns within me. Until next we correspond, Love always, Todd June 4th, 1863
Olaf: Clearly soldiers. The doctors healed his broken leg in the most unfortunate manner and didn't tend to his miles walk flattened infantry foot at all. His comrade with the portable mirror though suffered no injuries sleeping through most of the battles, his right eyebrow the size of the beavers butt bearing witness to that - this is the the side he rested his face on. Also note the gramophone in the background titled towards the ceiling, it is where expect sounds coming from after years of listening to cannon balls blasting over your head. The white Ritter Sport chocolate floor remains a mystery though.
Richard: Judging by the ponytail in the background this is a photo of the oldest living civil war survivors trying to spread measles before they die.
Doug: Just a guess I would say hipsters. If you look closely to the left there is a fan in the room. Back in civil war days there were not fans like that, the soldiers would gather in coffee shops and surf the internet in stifling heat on their apple Airbooks.
Brent: Dearest Clementine: It is a cold but sunny day on the battlefield of life. After a long and weary slog from our encampment at the cul de sac we made our way to the Starbucks for wifi, rest and medical advice. I took some shrapnel from a tossed Schlitz beer can that landed on my foot. It swelled up a little bit..,, the barista says she has seen worse. ( she rolled her eyes and looked away..,,I am unsure what that means ) Rufus says it's looking better ( he tends to look away when he says that..,,I am unsure what that means as well ) anyway dearest I do miss you and our free range hipsters at the neighborhood association homestead. Take care my love. P.S. Rufus say Hi and asks how are his kids. ( what does that mean? he confuses me so. ) Your loving significant other: Audon

A fitness center posted this ad stating: “This summer, what do you want to be? Mermaid or Whale?” A woman sent them an email response like this: “Yesterday I saw an ad with a photo of a sculptural girl in a bikini and the phrase from this summer. What will you be? Mermaid or Whale? Answer: Whales are surrounded by friends. Whales have an active sex life, get pregnant and have beautiful babies. Whales suckle. Whales are out there roaming the seas and getting to know interesting places like Antarctica and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales have dolphin friends. Whales eat shrimp. Whales throw jets of water and play a lot. Whales are huge and have almost no natural predators. Whales are well settled, they are BEAUTIFUL and they are LOVED. On the contrary, mermaids DO NOT EXIST ... If they did, they would live in an existential crisis: Am I a fish or a human being? Mermaids have no children because they kill men who are enchanted by their beauty says the tales. Their reproduction would be like fish, without physical contact, without love. They are beautiful, but they always live sad and alone ... Dear academy, I prefer to be a whale. ” Accept who you are, the way you feel most comfortable with, don’t allow trends or society to define how beautiful you are, it’s important to keep healthy but it’s also important that we embrace equality and LOVE... Feel proud of your curves because those who really matter in our lives are the ones who care about your character, values and spirit. So my question to you is, what would you like to be?

made the dreaded specialist appt. it's at St Lukes on the Plaza, where I was just recently hopelessly lost trying to visit my mom. I can already see how this is gonna go...

time is getting away from me. I feel like the woman behind me at Hy-Vee going on and on about how she just didn't have time. no time for herself. I promised to work next weekend for my boss. I have 2 scheduled ghost thingies. and a mom, dad, and Katie vacation. and Coralie's birthday party. and Zerelda's birthday coming up. and Violet's. and a new baby on the way. and Katie's graduation. and the mom & daughter trip. do I really have time for surgery? for reals?

old cemeteries are such peaceful places.... and they remind us that no matter how extravagant or expensive your monument, time can topple all...

every few years I'll drive past my grandparents old house... the house has changed, but I'll always see Grandma weeding her flower bed and us kids jumping off the front porch... the driveway and street full of vehicles...and the house packed to the brim. If they weren't home, Vern & Wynona across the street could tell us where they went and when they'd be back. You might see Fern or Claudia or Mildred...so many memories.♥️

to sleep, perchance to dream...

I was at Mom & Dad's farmhouse, cleaning the bathroom, when I look out the window and see my dad, in spirit form, behind the fence between the barn yard and the tool shed, in full on Casper the Friendly Ghost....was this the reason I couldn't drag myself out of bed after my alarm went off today...so I could linger and have this dream? I raised the window and said, "Hi, Dad"...he smiled, then was just a face, then he was gone.
