not going to say any names...I've been curious about this, but finally tackled the stack of unread local newspapers and put it all together....

there is a title company in an area town, been there 37 years. she is running an ad....the ONLY registered geographical title plant of..... county, with records dating back to 1846. I know she supports all area activities, since I hit her up many years for Band Carnival Merchant Drawing Prizes.

why does she feel the need to advertise her services? because......a girl I met at work who was very very briefly a Smithfield employee, who is a young wife and mother, and a very nice young girl, is the office manager for a new title company in the same town. on. the. same. side. of. the. damned. street. is it cool that she has her own business? very. is it cool that her and her husband have remodeled the old Corner Cafe restaurant into a business office and kept an old building with a lot of history in service? yes. but to be in direct competition with the county veteran....that's tough. to manage the office for an out of county title company. ouch. but I have to admire her moxy. she's taking on a challenge. she has a M-F job....I'm sure all known holidays off. but if I were to be buying something requiring title services, I know where I'd go.

my first thought was that she had worked for the other company and maybe that lady was retiring and she was taking over. but I finally read the paper. nope. nope. nope. good luck to all concerned.

(so, guess I'm an old busy body. this is worse than watching the neighbors from behind closed curtains. I am digressing.)
