Charges have been filed against a man who allegedly shot a man in Mercer and attempted to sexually assault the man’s wife. Eugene William Pattie Jr., 64, of Marshall, Mo., was arrested Friday night, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. . . . . . . . .

Mercer County Sheriff Stephen Stockman said that at 5:26 p.m. Friday, deputies received a call about a shooting of a 67-year-old man at a location north of Mercer Square. The man was shot three times. According to a department release, minutes later, Mr. Pattie allegedly left for the man’s home, where deputies found him and allege he attempted to sexually assault the man’s wife. The two were treated for their injuries. Mr. Pattie was charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree felony assault, felony attempted forcible rape and two counts of armed criminal action. According to court records, bond was denied in the case.
