we found Asher Walton (got a free tour!) and Roads Hotel in Indiana. The Mothman, TNT bunkers, West Virginia Bigfoot Museum, Flatwoods Monster Museum and 2 chairs. Grafton Monster. Trans-Allegheny. Lake Shawnee Abandoned Amusement Park. (THE Chris was our tour guide!!!!!) Buc-ees. Brandy Gap Tunnel #2. it was a lot. a. whole. lot. what a trip! we rock. I'm just going to say it. we started out going to a Nick Groff Meet & Greet in Jeff City. and now there's no stopping us!
Tracy had told me to check out paranormalprincess7 on instagram. I'm a fan girl now. she found the hotel. we set our agenda. Chris came along since he plays Fallout based on post apocolptic West Virginia.
day 1. Monday. they got here about 4:30 a.m. we loaded their stuff into my car. drove through MO-IA-ILL-Indiana-Ohio-West Virgina. gas 3.59gallong $56 Indiana. the pump was LOUD. like it was about to EXPLODE. We stopped in Atlanta, Indiana to see Roads Hotel. it wasn't open and nobody was there, but got to stand outside and take pics and how amazing was that? then Chris pointed out the scary looking house down the block, and it was Asher Walton, which I'd forgotten all about. we see a guy coming down the street, he asks us what we're doing. do we know this house is haunted? would we like a FREE tour? we survived it! the docent has done tours there for 30 years. he collects haunted dolls...I jotted down notes later. there were 3. one from Blair Witch Cave. the eyeless doll from a basement and the grandmother believed it was responsible for the death of 2 of her grandchildren. one was from Ohio. the house has beds, you can bring sleeping bags and stay all night. and house is wired for video, you can tell them when something happened, and they'll give you a copy. showed us a video of a woman sitting on the tiny desk like thing by the wall with the shadow hand going around her throat. nope. no thank you. I'm good. saw giant skeletons. $41.27. Christ put in his Speedway code and saved me 10cents a gallon! Logan, Ohio. mountains. forest. spooky fog. Coolville. (I giggled. Shaggy and Scooby and Velma and Daphne and Fred's hometown?) West Virginia! Christ told us the go-to snack in WV is pepperoni rolls and Mountain Dew. Casey's tells us the Midwest Breakfast is a Big Slice and a medium fountain drink. comfy bed. nice hotel with FREE breakfast!
DAy2. Tuesday. $22.88 3.29gallon. saw some Bigfoots. I'm always looking. and I count it all...billboards, souveniors, statues, bumperstickers.....deer at toll booth. tolls are 75cents or $4.25 cash only. our tour guide was CHRIS! CHRIS the owner! from the Portals to Hell episode I watched!
we bought our tickets and made a reservation at a local hotel. which I couldn't find, causing a panic attack the night before we left, but I finally figured it out. all was well. we drove about 5 hours, checked into hotel, drove downtown to find a parking space and some grub. there were street musicians and street art....cool vibe. we were loitering outside T-Los trying to read the menu on the window when out comes a guy with bigger, bolder printed menus. I had the best damn hotdog of my entire existance thus far. and homemade chips. I stared at this fly sculpture a lenghty time...usually I don't connect with art, but I could hear Jeff Goldblum's voice. mesmorizing.
The Stiefel Theatre is old. it has a definite vibe. no where did I read about a haunting, but I always watch the fog and the lights. what better place for a spirit to show itself? especially one that enjoys the band on stage?
we crashed at hotel, then up and at 'em in the morning to drive in search of a haunted road. looking for 3 hills. found a bunch. and gps took us to a dead end road in a field with the bridge out....but Kevin loves to back up, so all's well that ends well. let's see. breakfast at IHOP which was so slow that we got a discount on our food for the wait. Kevin got his beloved Sports Clip haircut with hot towel treatment and neck massage. onto Koren's. took her and fam to Texas Road House for her birthday. then we checked into a hotel, saw The Exorcist Believer, and that was Friday. Saturday I met up with Ann for her 2 bridal dress appointments. she found her dress. lunch at Five Guys, then to hang out at Koren's for a bit, she made homemade potato soup for supper! then home again, home again, jiggity job.
we turned before Lawrence, so no massacre for me. there was other cool stuff, but not on our route or close by. maybe another trip through Kansas.....
