Deliverance

well, now I can say I have seen it.. of course I knew the squeal like a pig part and the dueling banjo part.....scary shit. FIRST.....I wouldn't go on a canoe trip down a river unless it was a guided thing. with a real guide. I wouldn't fuck with locals. I wouldn't try to hide said locals bodies. I wouldn't go to authorities when I finally got out of the damn river. I thought about this movie when we were on vacation on the Black River.....Ian & I stayed at the cabin while the rest went on a float trip. we played outside for awhile. It was beautiful and eerily quiet. right off the road but isolated. peaceful. no banjo music. and now I have watched it. would I watch it again? probably not. but I did watch it. I've meant to for a long time. gotta knock these things off the list one at a time....since last summer I have watched Easy Rider (read about the scene in St Louis Cemetery No. 1, so had to see it), Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (I am fascinated with all things southern...), and now Deliverance. gettin' 'er done.
so, during the credits...it was filmed in the Appalachian Mountains. and the toothless guy was Herbert Cowboy Coward. I think he's Cowboy on Hillbilly Blood.
just googled it, and "by ad there", I was right. (or did Grandpa Vermal say "By God There"?) wish I could remember. it makes me sad that I can't, and none of the relatives can agree, but I'm pretty sure we all agree that Grandma Grace said "on it." anyways.....I was right! the old brain still works on a few cylinders....And now he has a pet squirrel.
the article I found said he is 90 and going on a blind date with MeMaw off Hollywood Hillbillies. I tried to watch Hollywood Hillbillies, truly I did. I just couldn't. took it right off the list.< apparently even I have standards....
my sisters both commented on facebook:
Lisa: By ad there. That's what I remember!
Brenda: same here for sure. Grandpa would say "by ad there" and grandma would always conclude every sentence with the phrase "on it". They made quite the pair with their crazy catch phrases.
me: I vote for by ad there, too. Kevin swears it's By God There.
mom: Sometimes it was by god there, mostly by ad there.

I am so out of the loop.

got a lot done at work, left a few minutes early, even, so got to see Kevin a minute before he left for work. Kate came home from dance, she foraged thru our dvd collection to find one for me to wrap for the FFA Xmas party tonite. (did I even know about this? good thing I have a dvd hoard of my favorites I'm replacing that I have on VHS but never have time to open and watch.....this years offering is Mars Attacks) it's also Open House, which was rescheduled from earlier, but 'you don't have to go.' so, started laundry, did a quick floor clean, making a hurried up real food supper, then it'll be couch time for mom. AND Freak Show is back tonite, but I won't watch it with out Katie, and she may be home late after FFA party. but, it's back!

Better watch your ass next time you go hiking

it's 7:25 p.m. and I'm in my jammies. I held out as long as I could.....

had a hectic, fairly productive day at work. come home, they all start leaving.

Kevin was already on his way to work. KJ went to see Taylore. Katie & Jessica (yeah, someone else's kid left me, too!) went to Kale's basketball game. so, I caught up on my list, folded laundry, made a batch of laundry soap. I am a real party animal.

practicing witchcraft.

While living in colonial Massachusetts during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692, you were charged with performing witchcraft! Throughout this time, residents of Salem were accused of witchcraft and a series of trials and executions took place. After a young woman in the Village claimed to be possessed by the devil, she accused you of inflicting her with the spirit of Satan. After the rumors began spreading, a wave of hysteria washed over the community and you were thrown in jail. Luckily for you, the woman who accused you admitted that she was lying and you were set free.

Happy happy happy 1st birthday to my favoritest lil' guy in the whole wide world! love you to the moon & back, Ian Boyd Wills!
